Ruby Port

overview:          A very good example of Australian-style ruby port from Barossa Shiraz.  Bronze Medal 2006-9 Marananga Regional Wine, 2004 Rutherglen Wine Show.

 

Winemaking:     Fermented and fortified ‘on-skins’ in a closed Ducellier-Isman Fermenter before draining/pressing into tanks for settling and refortification. 

 

 maturation:        Held for a short time in hogsheads.

 

 

colour:              Deep red with a slight tawny tinge.

 

 nose:                Heavy earthy shiraz with a light fruit overtone.

 

palate:              Full and balanced between plum-like fruit and sweetness with a slightly astringent finish and a soft aftertaste.
